Yoga is a practice for everyone because it meets you exactly where you are in the present moment. From beginner students to advanced yogis and everything in between, Tao of Light Yoga welcomes everybody at all levels of their journey. There is a place for everyone inside our studio and it is our goal to make each and every student feel at home. It is your time on your mat that is important to us. We, at Tao of Light, will create a space that provides modern comfort for an ancient practice. As both a yoga studio and a sangha, we honor the tradition of the practice while respecting the diversity and individual beliefs of our students.

At yoga class

Plan to get to the studio at least ten minutes before your first yoga class to find a spot where you feel most comfortable. If you are going to a class that is popular (because of the teacher or the time of day), try to get there 15 to 20 minutes ahead of time. Take off your shoes and socks before you walk into the room; sometimes studios have cubbies for your shoes, right inside the yoga room. If you are not sure, ask the front desk or just watch what everyone else is doing. Whether you borrow a mat from the studio or bring your own, make sure you unroll it facing the instructor. Be sure to tell the instructor whether you have any injuries, especially a recent one, so he or she can give you appropriate modifications.

Our mission

Mission and Values

We strive to maintain a sacred and intimate environment that allows people to grow their physical and spiritual practice without being constrained by contracts or membership. Tao of Lights’s mission is to guide students in the evolution of their yoga practice and life balance both on and off of the mat.

I just wanted to drop a quick email to thank you for last night’s yoga class. For the first time in months I had a good night’s rest. I feel super today and love it. Thanks again for your instruction!!!

Mentally, yoga practice has resulted in a more positive attitude in handling whatever life throws at me. I am especially grateful for the yoga classes during the long winter months when the sun rises at 8:00 AM and sets by 4:30 PM. Sadness and depression can get an easy grip during these dark months. Doing yoga then is what I need to pick me up, cheer me up mentally. My body seems to thank me for the activity.

The instructors at Tao Of Light who have helped me, are experts in anatomy and physiology. They know which muscle groups are engaged in each posture. They tailor each class to students' ability. They explain variations of the posture, so each student can adjust to their experience and comfort. There is no "competition" or judgment in the classes. Each does their own practice according to their ability and progress from there. The contraindications are explained for each posture, so if one has high blood pressure or is pregnant, a variation is given. The students are supportive of each other and welcome newcomers.

I have attended yoga classes in various studio, gym and ashram settings, finding the instructors at Tao Of Light among the best. These ladies are gems. We are fortunate to have this precious facility in our community fostering our growth physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

So - buy a mat, or use theirs. All the yoga props are available for use. Come, join in. We even receive a "thought for the day", an inspirational phrase for us to ponder as we put on our shoes and re-enter the world out there!
